From very humble beginnings in 1994, Government Polytechnic Kohima has grown by leaps and bounds. Government Polytechnic Kohima is now functioning under the aegis of State Council of Technical Education (SCTE), Directorate of Technical Education, Nagaland. Curriculum is revised on a timely basis in consultation with National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR). Facilities available for the students include a library containing more than five thousand volumes and titles, girls’ hostel, well-equipped laboratories, a cafeteria and buses for transportation. The Institute is offering four diploma programmes viz Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Civil Engineering (CE), Fashion Technology (FT) and Modern Office Practice (MOP). Besides these, the Institute has also implemented a number of centrally sponsored skill development schemes such as Community Development Through Polytechnics (CDTP), Community College, Gandhi Institute of Computer Education and Information Technology and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY). Seminars and workshops are also conducted on a regular basis. As a testament to the service rendered to the society by GPK, its alumni have achieved success in their respective fields, serving as role models for the present students.
